Frequently asked questions

How much of my support gets to the child?

We work very hard to make sure as much of your sponsorship as possible makes it directly to your child.

We only use 3% of our total funding on administration (credit card processing fees) and only 1% on transfer fees (electronic funds transfer to Africa) so 96% of your donation will directly benefit your sponsored child.

Can I visit my Sponsored Child?

Absolutely! We highly encourage sponsors to visit their sponsored child. We generally take one trip each year and we would love for you to join.

Can I choose the child I sponsor?

You can choose whether you sponsor a girl or a boy, and their approximate age.

How long will I sponsor for?

We hope your relationship with us and the child you sponsor will continue for a number of years. But, if your circumstances change, you can stop at any time and we will try to find another sponsor for the child. Children are usually sponsored until they are 18.

What happens if I can no longer afford to sponsor my child?

We understand that life happens and can make it difficult to continue sponsorship. If you can no longer continue your child sponsorship or need to make changes to your account, please reach out to us at (678) 230-7118 or email us at felicia@gfdha.org.

How do I know if my child really gets the money I’m sending.

Your sponsored child will not receive your sponsored gift directly; his or her field worker is responsible for the monthly sponsorship distribution through paying school fees, transportation, tutoring, school supplies, school uniforms and medical expenses. Sponsored parents will also have access to his or her sponsored child’s school progress reports.

How can I communicate with my Sponsored Child?

Once you sign up to be a child sponsor, a sponsorship packet will be emailed to you that includes a photo of your sponsored child, information about his or her life, and instructions on how you can keep in touch with them.

You are welcome to write or email your sponsored child anytime. Written communication is a tremendous encouragement to children in our program. They often treasure your letters and photos for years to come.

Can I designate what kind of gift is purchased for my Sponsored Child?

Your monetary gift will be wired to your sponsored child’s field worker in their country and exchanged to local currency. If you give a general gift for what your child most needs, the field worker will meet with the child and their family to identify what need can best be met with your gift.

What payment method can I use to process the monthly auto-draft payment for my Sponsored Child?

Automatic payment drafts can be made using PayPal if you have a PayPal account. Setting up a PayPal account is 100% FREE and ranks the highest security in online money transfers. All of your transactions are in one location for easy transaction viewing.

Manual One-Time sponsorship transfers can also be processed using PayPal if you DO Not have a PayPal account by selecting the “Friends and Family” option using the email “feliciacharityproject@gmail.com” and type “Charity Sponsorship” in the comments box.
